Astraea tecta / Lithopoma tectum;

We offer 2 sizes of Astrea Snails: XL and Regular. This listing is for our XL variety, which are Nickel to Quarter Size on the bottom! As often as possible, we will send snails that actually have some coralline algae on them. Bonus coral!

Their care is easy, and they are hardy, making them a great beginner snail! Astreas are completely reef safe herbivores and scavengers. Their diet ranges from cyanobacteria and diatoms to hair, brown, green, and filamentous algae on rock work and glass. If your aquarium is completely devoid of algae (congrats!) then they will also feed on leftover fish food or algae sheets/wafers. While more active at night, you will still see them hanging out in your aquarium during the day.
